Course Offerings

  • The Common Application Essay Workshop- Session 1

The Common Application Essay, otherwise known as the personal statement, is the central part to the college application. It is required by nearly every institution prospective students apply to. The personal statement is much different from creative and academic writing done at school. This workshop will allow students to get a head start on their college applications by writing and completing the 650-word essay with instruction from Impulse Learning instructors who have recently gone through the college process themselves.

See schedule for Session 1 here

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE COMMON APPLICATION ESSAY WORKSHOP.

  • Supplemental Essays Workshop- Session 2

Many institutions ask for supplemental essays as a part of prospective students’ applications to find out more about their character traits, activities, or their potential contribution to the institution’s student body. In this workshop, instructors will be sharing tips and tricks to writing ranging from common supplemental essay prompts like “Why X school,” “What are you passionate about and why,” and “What inspires you?” to more creative ones like the University of Chicago’s prompts.

* It is strongly recommended but not required that the student have a list of approximately ten institutions they would like to apply to in order for the course to be more tailored towards these specific schools’ prompts.

  • ADD-ON: Building a College List- Session 1 and Session 2

It’s okay not to have a final college list ready yet. Amidst a global pandemic, it has become increasingly difficult to visit and learn about colleges students would like to apply to. Instructors will guide you on the college search based on their own experiences and research. Students will be contacted with their schedules prior to the start of the session.
